HOBY Vermont Leadership & Service Scholarship
HOBY Vermont is proud to announce the HOBY Vermont Leadership & Service Scholarship, a one-time $1,000 award supporting a HOBY Vermont alumnus who is enrolling as a full-time student at a Vermont State University (VTSU) campus in Fall 2026.
About This Scholarship
HOBY Vermont seeks to be a catalyst for young Vermonters to become effective and compassionate leaders in their local, regional, and global communities. Our ambassadors are challenged with a simple but powerful question: What can you, as a young leader, do to make Vermont a better place? This scholarship recognizes an alumnus who has taken that question seriously — carrying the HOBY spirit forward through service and community engagement — and is pursuing higher education at a Vermont State University campus.
Eligibility
Attended the HOBY Vermont Leadership Seminar
Enrolled or plan to be enrolled as a full-time student at a Vermont State University campus (Castleton, Johnson, Lyndon, Randolph, or Williston) in Fall 2026

Submit your application using the link below. You will be asked to provide basic contact and enrollment information and to upload your essay as an attachment. Please do not include your name on the document.
Essay Prompt
We're looking for applicants who can reflect honestly and thoughtfully on three things: what they learned through their HOBY experience (personal, group, and community leadership); how they've put that question, what can you do to make Vermont a better place?, into action through volunteer work or community service; and how all of this connects to the future they're building for themselves and their communities through higher education. (500 word limit) Please do not include your name on the attached file.
